LEAF AND BRUSH DISPOSAL AREA CLOSED
The leaf and brush disposal area that had served the public for the last fifteen years at Windham Public Works has been closed. Despite the fact there were never any problems with the facility, the Town was told that the site did not meet DEP criteria for a disposal site.

We worked with DEP to leave the area open while seeking alternatives and explored the possibility of getting permits for the site but concluded that we would spend $12,000 to $25,000 applying for a permit that would not be granted because the site does not meet DEP's criteria.

We are still working on developing alternatives for the benefit of Windham residents. Please click the link to read the full press release.

DON'T FORGET TO RECYCLE!
Some people have asked if Windham still separates recyclables from regular trash and the answer is YES! Pine Tree Waste, our Trash and Recyclables contractor, is using nearly identical trucks to pickup trash and recyclables.

Plus, with ecomaine's new single sort system, recycling is now easier than ever. All types of recyclable materials go into the same box...no need to separate!
